Using your ePREP credit as NSFs

Are you currently serving the National Service? If you are, have you heard of e-PREP?

e-PREP is a scheme by MINDEF which aims to provide NSFs a wide range of refresher and skills development course to facilitate your transition from NS to University or the workforce. As long as you are doing National Service, you will be receiving your e-PREP credit 12 months before your Operational Ready Date (ORD) date.

You would be allocated with $350 e-PREP credits and can choose to enroll in whatever course that is available on the NS portal. Base on the course fee, MINDEF would then deduct from your e-PREP credits up to your allocated limits. Any additional balance would then have to be borne by you.

Personal Opinion

I personally have tried e-PREP and I highly recommend the 'Udemy Suites of Course'. Unlike other courses that I find rather overpriced, Udemy is definitely value for money. If you have not heard of Udemy, it is an online learning platform where you can enroll in courses you are interested in.

By getting 'Udemy Suites of Course' you would have access to over 4000 courses ranging from programming to public speaking courses for a year. All these for only $160.50 credit.

Some of the courses that I have done include Complete Python Bootcamp: From Zero to Hero in Python, The Complete Presentation and Public Speaking/Speech Course, and also Microsoft Excel - Excel from Beginner to Advanced. If you are interested, you can take a look at the courses available here.

I really do urge you to consider using your e-PREP credit as the credits cannot be converted to cash, and any unused credits will be forfeited 1 year after your ORD date.

Here is how you apply

1. Log in to NS Portal

2. Scroll down till you see e-PREP and click on it

3. Once you are in this page, click on the course application

4) Browse the type of courses you would like to enroll in and add to the cart

5) Click on continue

6) Once you successfully 'purchase' the course, you will receive an email. Thereafter just follow the instructions from the email.

If you want more information, you can go to ns.sg and read more about it. Have fun studying!

  1. A better choice is taking one of those NS ePrep courses offered by NTU. These are real professionally produced and conducted courses, and not by any Tom=Dick-and-Harry.
