DBS DigiPortfolio Review - It is the Best Roboadvisor?

If you do not already know, DBS has its own Robo-Advisor known as DBS digiPortfolio. It is one of the many RoboAdvisors out there that is trying to attract investors who want to do passive investing. So should you consider using DBS digiPortfolio or skip it? Let us take a look!

What is DBS digiPortfolio

DBS digiPortfolio provides ready-made investment portfolios that tap onto human expertise and Robo-technology. This provides users who do not have time to watch the market a way to invest without worries.

DBS digiPortfolios

DBS digiPortfolio currently offers 2 portfolios that are reviewed quarterly and rebalanced to align with market trends.

The Global Portfolio provides diversified exposure to the Global market with 4-7 ETFs. Some of the ETFs include iShares Core S&P 500,  X MSCI Europe, iShares MSCI China A, and Vanguard FTSE Japan.

The Asia Portfolio provides diversified exposure to the Asian market with 4-6 ETFs. Some of the ETFs include Nikko Straits Times Index ETF, iShares MSCI India Index, and Xtrackers MSCI China ETF.

For each portfolio, DBS also offers 3 risk levels.

Risk level 2: Slow n' Steady (Invest primarily in fixed-income instruments to provide stability to the portfolio while taking advantage of the growth potential of equities)

Risk level 3: Comfy Cruisin  (Evenly diversifies between equities and fixed-income assets)

Risk level 4: Fast n' Furious (Favours equities as opposed to fixed-income instruments. For investors who are prepared to take on higher volatility)

ASIA PORTFOLIO

Pricing

To get started with DBS digiPortfolio, you need to deposit a minimum of S$1,000 for the Asia Portfolio and US$1,000 for the Global Portfolio.

The cost is comparable to other RoboAdvisors. The annual management fee is 0.75% p.a. for both the Asia Portfolio and Global Portfolio and is charged once a year. (There are no other sales charges, platform fees, switching fees. withdrawal fees or closure fees)

Is it Safe?

Being a product by DBS itself, DBS digiPortfolio is definitely safe. You will have full transparency of your holdings and portfolio performance on their website.

My current portfolio

I started using DBS digiPortfolio when it first came out. I currently have both Global and Asia Portfolio at risk level 4. You can see my returns during the period where the market crashed due to covid-19. Going forward, I believe the returns will continue to increase as the market recovers.

Compared to StashAway and Syfe, I would say that the returns are rather similar.

Personal Opinion

DBS digiPortfolio is great for passive investors looking for a decent return. Do give it a try if you like the ETFs the portfolio is investing in. However, it remains to be seen if it is the best Roboadvisor out there. Going forward, I would provide an update to compare my returns for StashAway, Syfe and DBS digiPortfolio.

If you are interested to start an investment through digiPortfolio, here are the steps you should follow.

  1. Simply log in to digiBank online and access ‘digiPortfolio’ via the ‘Invest’ tab in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select the portfolio you wish to invest in.
  3. Indicate your preferred risk level and funding account, funding currency and amount.
  4. Then confirm your decision after checking that your order details are correct.

Note: You will need a Multi-Currency Account with sufficient SGD or USD to complete your transaction.

You can head over to DBS's website to find out more.

Other than DBS digiPortfolio, you can look at my reviews on Syfe and StashAway.

  2. Does DBS give dividends from the funds? Am hoping that it should be able to cover the 0.75% maint fee. Thanks.
